Hello from NC. New member and new to chickens.

1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?

I am brand new to chickens. I just brought my girls home a few days ago.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?

I was going to bring home 2 but ended up with 4.

(3) What breeds do you have?

All will be 10 weeks tomorrow
1 White Leghorn
1 Easter Egger
2 Spotted Sussex

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?

I not sure yet. So far I am trying to bond with them which is a bit of a challenge because they don’t want to be picked up and are nervous.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?

I really love spending time with my dogs and I just started gardening. Eventually I would love to have goats but one thing at a time…. The chickens are enough for a little while. Honestly, I already want a couple more.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

I have a serious boyfriend of 4 years. We have 2 dogs (very active Giant Schnauzer and a Mi-ki). I work at a clothing boutique 6 days a week and when I am not working (thank goodness the sun sets late now), we are slowly trying to homestead. There is a lot to learn!

Congrats on the new chicks! If you have any questions, just ask! Stop by our Learning Center too for lots of good articles there.

Have you ever tried scrambled eggs out on them? If not, put some in your hand. See if they'll come to you. If not, give it to them but wait a day or two and try that again. They love those!
