Hello from NE Indiana

Thank you everyone!

So we went to get the chickens today at the local farm store and the breeds I wanted, that they had 3 days ago, were all gone! :barnie

After a long day of calling basically all the farm stores withing 100 miles and driving my husband crazy, I ended up ordering from a hatchery. We should be getting them by Thursday now.

Bad news is I won't get my Welsummers, but we can work on that in a few years when we are more experienced.

Good news!? I am getting Blue Copper Marans, Ameraucanas, Lavender Orpingtons, Cream Legbars, and Olive Eggers.:celebrate All of the ones I wanted(I like them colorful, can you tell?)! Our plan of starting with 6 is now up to 15 haha. So thankful my husband puts up with me.

I am not surprised! We often wind up with more chickens than we planned on. How does that happen?

G’Day from down under Brittny :frow Welcome!

Sorry to hear that your chicken parenting has been delayed.

I do hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

If you include your general location on your profile, this will assist others. Location, climate, season etc can be important factors when members are responding to any questions you may have and vice versa.

Please do check out the Topic of the Week discussions Pork Pie mentioned. I have found these to be a great resource, informative and sometimes entertaining.

If you would like to share Pictures and Stories of your flock when they arrive, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)

Best wishes and good luck!
