Hi I'm Stephanie. I'm a labor, delivery and postpartum nurse in NE Kansas. My husband and I have 5 kids from 5-23. We also have a cat and 1 small dog who loves when the chicks come outside so he can watch and interact. This is my first time with backyard chickens. We have 7 chickens. They're currently about 4 weeks old. They're old enough that when I open the brooder to feed them they obnoxiously try to fly out and into my face lol... which startles me no matter how much I'm expecting it. Five chicks are bantams (no idea which breeds... maybe as they get older you guys can help me figure that out!) And 2 larger ones that I *think* are an australorp and the other a mixed breed/Easter egger. I'm hoping I don't end up with all roos as my town doesn't allow them and I really don't even want to rehome my "babies." I've wanted chickens for years and over the last several months really started to pour over books and information which led me here!

Welcome to BYC Stephanie!

Glad you could join us all here! Congratulations on getting your chicken adventures started! You could post some pics in the what breed gender section which you can find here ~ WHAT BREED/GENDER

Good luck with chicks in the future and enjoy BYC :frow

Congratulations, Stephanie, on finally getting your flock; regardless of breed -- chickens are great!

Here's hoping you have all hens as your little ones grow. Rehoming critters you love is so hard.

Welcome to BYC, where lots of experienced, generous folks will be happy to help in any way we can!
