Hello from new chicken owner

Hello everyone,

I'm new to raising chickens and to the forum. I've already received a lot of great info from reading here, but also have questions, so here I am! We have 15 pullets and 3 roosters. I'm thinking this is too many roosters for the number of pullets. Five are buff orpingtons, 5 black australorps, and 6 Ameraucana/EEs. The three roosters (that I didn't order) are Ameraucanas/EEs. Unfortunately, the smaller buffs are receiving a little too much attention from the roosters. One of the buffs had her comb damaged and is separated from the flock right now. What's the best way to rehome a rooster? They're beautiful, but we got chickens for the eggs and can't have the pullets getting injured. And, should I keep any of them or should I rehome them all? Would a bigger run help? Thanks for all of the information and help here. I've already benefited greatly from the information people are willing to share on previous questions!

I am not sure how to re home the rooster other than an auction but you really need to get rid of 1or 2 roosters

Welcome to BYC! 1 rooster is plenty. I would call your local feed store to see if they will take the extras, good luck to you.

Welcome to BYC. Frequently your local feed store can help with rehoming excessive roosters. I'd isolate the roosters and put that pullet back with the flock if they were mine.

unless you plan on selling fertile eggs, or incubating - you don't need to have any roosters.

Sourland, should I wait until the pullet is healed? Someone else I spoke with mentioned the possibility that another pullet may have inflicted the damaged to the injured pullet's comb, but I hadn't heard or read that pullets would turn on each other like that. I could isolate the roosters, but my large dog crate is probably a better size for one pullet rather than two roosters.
