Hello! I am new to the group and am loving it here! So much information and so many kind people willing to share their knowledge. I am new to chickens, we have 6, 5 week old chicks. 3 Red sex links and 3 black sex links. I am in love! We are building our coop over spring break. We have chosen the 'Daisy Coop' as in all my research it seems to have all that my girls will need. We live in northern NY and the winters get pretty cold. I am glad to have found this group. I am sharing a picture of one of my girls so you can all see what made me fall in love, this is my Lucy

Hi and welcome to BYC - thanks for joining us.

You'll find lots of info in the Learning Centre - https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center and if you have a specific topic in mind, just type it in the search box - there's a wealth of information on past and present threads.

You may wish to consider joining your state thread as it will put you in touch with other BYC members in your area - https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/270925/find-your-states-thread#post_3239224

All the best

Welcome!

As you have already received links to some good starting points, I will just wish you all the best.

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

If you would like to share more pictures and stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out

Thank you for the welcome CT! And thank you for the information on the state threads, I am headed there to check it out now. I live in a cold climate and that could be very helpful, Thanks Again! -Chrissy

Thanks Teila! Nice to find someplace where people feel the same about their chickens as I do

Thanks for the welcome NorthWolfeMom! Looks like we are both in the same type of climate (brrr, lol). Looking forward to learning a lot here, especially how to keep my girls safe and comfortable through the winter
