Have to be fairly diligent knowing where all the animals are at any given time - I kind of let the rats out and about. There has only been a couple of times when a rat and cat have come across one another unexpectedly, but I have been close enough to deter :) Have had rats since 2007. Not very long lives 1-3 years :( Two died this year.
Thank you for complimenting our scenery. ODd on LOTR thats why I could never get into Game of Thrones :)

Glad that you joined here, and good luck with your chickens and animal's! Are you in spring over there now as I am in fall/autumn over here?

Yep, in Spring. The rain started about 6.30ish this evening (I was at work). It was sunny earlier today - had the girls out for the first time for about 3 hours. When I got home from work I gave them about half a dozen worm farm worms each. They were up on their perches :)

Maximum in the area of Lower Hutt I am in is 3 chickens, no roosters. Am glad I did end up with 2 as hutt and run not that big - see pic.
