hello from newbie

Hello

My name is Donna from Michigan- we are new to this forum and new to chickens ( my in-laws, lives next store and have some but the girls want their own)

We are getting 6 baby chicks today

.

(Born between yesterday and today) BD present for my 14 yr old daughter... they always seem to want animals for there BD that is how we ended up with goats 3 yrs ago... now we have 10 of them..

For right now we plan to keep them in a 10 gal fish tank with wire over top of it- So would the light from the fish tank keep them warm enough or should we use a heat lamp and how far away from them should it be?
