Hello from NH

T
Old hens of 10+ can get cold easily, yes like old people they lose muscle mass and some become extremely thin. They can freeze to death in bitter cold temps. I have always paid extra attention to my senior birds, if they seem cold, I do offer up heat, it can save their lives.
There’s not a lot of information about geriatric chickens either, so learning as I go. 💕

There really isn't any info on geriatric hens, it's definitely a learn as you go thing. Unlike young birds, they do require attention to detail. They can get quite arthritic too and can't roost, loose their balance easily, go blind, get heart disease, some will turn up their beaks at food, they are definitely extra work but these old gals are quite special! ❤

Wow, what a nice welcoming! :love Thanks everyone.
I appreciate the kind comments more than you know ~ the learning years were tough, but so worth their health and happiness.
Currently enjoying my new chicken TV… 🥰 SO much fun!
