Hi everyone,
My husband and I are new to raising birds, we currently have 4 roosters (we'll be eating 2-3 of them soon since we only wanted 1 or 2 and they all gang up on our biggest one), 2 grown but not yet laying ducks (as far as I can tell they've both stayed the same size for a week), and I believe 15 hens in a big coop outside. Inside we have 6 ducklings and 6 turkey poults who are about 3.5 weeks old, they'll be a month old on Tuesday. We also feed a couple stray dogs to keep mountain lions and bears off the property as well as 3 of our own dogs and 5 cats. My husband has never raised or been around livestock in a farm-style way, but my foster parents from a decade ago had chickens, rabbits, and I think other animals that they kept somewhere off their property. I wasn't around the farm animals a lot since I was a foster youth, but there was a time or two such as when my foster dad had me watch him butcher a rabbit. Anyway, I hope we can all learn from each other and thank you all in advance!
