I’ve been a chicken Mama since October!! I learn new and interesting things everyday !!

So, I have a 5 week old Easter Egger chicken that has an upper respiratory infection. She is breathing pretty heavy and whistling when she breathes. I have been using VetRX several times a day on and around her beak and under her wings and even put a drop inside her beak. I have even broke open a capsule of doxycycline and sprinkled a tiny bit in her water the last few days. I have her isolated in a darker quite room. This is the 3rd day with no improvement at all. Any other suggestions would be very much appreciated!! I’m very worried about her!!

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frowGlad you joined.
Get some Tylan50 from your local farm store and give her 1/2 ml orally every 12 hours for 5 to 7 days. You will have to get a small gauge needle (20 or 22awg) to draw the Tylan out of the bottle then remove the needle and squirt the 0.5cc (1/2 ml) into a piece of bread and feed that to her or carefully give it directly to her at the side of her beak and let it wick in so she can swallow it without aspirating.

Welcome!

VerRx is pretty worthless when it comes to respiratory diseases. It's basically Vicks Vap-Rub.

Antibiotics can't be given willy nilly if you want them to work.

If it's a respiratory disease you might consider seeing a vet for antibiotics for the flock because if it is they've all been exposed already so isolated isn't going to help. It could actually stress this one out more which could make her go down hill faster.

Can you take a clear short video of her now and upload it to YouTube?
