I admire anyone who can survive the winters of northern Minnesota -- northern Iowa is as much snow and cold as I can endure (although I love the Boundary Waters area when it's SUMMER ).

Geese -- who appear to be hollow birds that are constantly trying to fill themselves up with food -- really are happiest with at least one other goose friend. As soon as one of my two girls is out of the other's sight, they call to each other to reassure themselves that all is well.
