I have been reviewing this site for almost a year now, picking brains and reading information. A short bio on my chicken experience, about a year and a half ago, we were given a rooster and two hens. We bought a small coop and about 6 months later we realized the prebuilt coop was built wrong, it was too small, too hard to clean, and basically fell apart. About 3 months later the rooster died due to my children feeding the rooster some fuzz balls from christmas cards, it was unfortunate but a learning experience. Now a year and a half later, I have a home built custom coop from plans I downloaded online, and 8 hens. 6 white leghorns, and 2 mixed breeds (the originals). The smallest somehow claimed dominance after the rooster died and remains in charge. I feel now I have at least enough of "learned the hardway" experience to contribute to the forums. Thank you all, you have been a wealth of knowlege and hopefully I can contribute myself now.
