I'm excited to begin my Back Yard Chickens!!! We started by converting our bicycle shed into a coop & after many hours looking for pics of the inside of a coop, we decided to turn milk crates into our laying boxes. They look great, and are very easy to unscrew from the wall & clean( il post pics later). Next we incubated 30 & had 22 successful hatch this weekend. I found this site was very helpful for many of my question & am very happy to be a member now!!!

Welcome from a fellow Vermonter! Congrats on the hatch. We would love to see pictures :)

Thank You!! It's been a great experience for my 3 young boys & im very excited to save on the grocery bill & know where our food is coming from. Im very happy w how colorful they are but I'm not sure what kind of chickens they are, my dad got them from a friend of his for me & all I know is they have some kind of game bird in them. I've looked for days but can't come up w anything, that's a big reason for signing up to BYC was to ask & see what folks had to saw & also just pick people's brains!!

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided join our flock. Congratulations on a successful hatch and thanks for posting the pic of your chicks. :o) Raising chickens is a wonderful experience for children. My granddaughter (pictured in my avatar) loves our chickens. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your chicks.
