Hello to all! Been in Northwest Arkansas my whole life and moved back to the family farm 1 1\2 yrs ago. Its a small dairy and we had a couple horses growing up and a big garden. We grew a handful of meat birds 1 yr, but that's it. Never had anything but milk cows.So this is pretty new to me. I recently bought 12 birds from a neighbor, all different kinds. 1 RI roo and 1 Cuckoo Maran roo, 1 ameracuana 1 buff orp, 2 silkies crossed with something 1 copper maran 1 austra white 1 buffhorn and 2 welsummers 1 cuckoo maran hen. They have acres to forage but come running when they see me coming bc im sugar mama. They are happy and beautiful. Been lurking on BYC for yrs now and finally have become a chicken keeper. Its been fun so far!

Welcome to BYC, we are happy you're here.
I am also sugarmama-- my feathered kids certainly know what a Quaker Oats container looks AND sounds like!
The "shake shake shake" brings them all straight to me. Very helpful in getting the few late partiers back to the coop in the evening!
Best wishes on your chicken adventures!

Sounds like your chickens enjoy you, as much as you enjoy them.
