My husband and I have been kicking around the idea of raising chickens for eggs (and bug control)! We haven't actually bought any yet. We are waiting until Spring to start this project but I thought if I started the research now we'd be all set by spring. We have 26 acres (mostly wooded). We live in an area known for it's lake effect snow and I wonder if that is an issue. I think mostly I will just have a ton of questions once I start researching. I'm glad I found this website!

You may need to invest in chicken snow shoes!

Welcome... I live near Oneida Lake and the effect we get from Lake Ontario doesn't effect our hens. They tend to free range less even though they can if they want.

. I'm sure learning lots of new tricks so far here in the BYC. I know you'll find all the info you need about whats best for your birds in your area too.

See you around.
