It has officially been one year since we started our little chicken heaven and found BYC. They have been such a tremendous amount of entertainment and have brought so much joy to our life!

We bought 4 Amber Links and 4 Golden Comets at TSC and then were given 14 black sex links. We lost 4 due to the neighbors dogs before our fence was completed and eventually ended up with more Roosters than hens! All the roos, minus one, are in my freezer, and we have 9 hens left. We get 7-9 eggs every day and half of them are so large, I can't close the egg carton.

Yesterday we were given 7 Banty's and while picking up feed for them, we bought 6 Red Sex Link pullets. I think I have ID'd the Banty's but I'll post pics as soon as I'm allowed to get confirmation from others. The Banty's need to earn their keep so I'm not sure what I will do with them at this point.

This forum has been a fantastic resource for us and I'm looking forward to being able to share and give back what I have learned over the last year with those just starting out.

I am also from Ohio.....The Dover, New Philadelphia area, in Tuscarawas county. Where do you hail from?

The chicken bug bit me about 3 years ago, and I am an addict! Right now, I've got 7 adult hens, and 14 young chickens from TSC (6 red pullets and 6 SLW), and I have 7 chicks in the house that I have hatched out recently for some eye candy.

l Hope you enjoy your new chickens!
