Hello everyone. My name is Lonny. I am a 39 year old married man from Bellefontaine Ohio. I have twelve 7-8 week old Amberlinks. Two Pequin 7 week old ducklings, and a couple baby piglets. And still won't admit to having a "farm", even though on top of all the animals, put a garden in last week too. LoL Anyways, I hope to meet others who find working with their chickens to be way more than just work, I absolutely love it. I can sit or stand in their coop and be there for hours, interacting and just watching them. They seem to make all my problems and thoughts on everything else just go away, or stop for the time being. I have bought an 8 x 10 amish built barn, divided it, and made one side into a nice coop area for these up and coming egg laying machines..I have pictures I will soon add..I fenced in a nice outside run for them that is approximately a 20 x 20 area. My 12 hens share their surroundings with their two unusual looking quacking siblings, my 2 ducklings..which I absolutely love too..anyways thanks for allowing me to join! Lonny

Hi Lonny, and welcome to BYC! I'm also from Ohio. Strasburg Ohio, in Tuscarawas county.

You do sound like you're a chick-a-holic already! Glad you're enjoying your flock! I also find caring for animals to be very good for the soul. Um....you might as well admit it....you're a hobby farmer! Nothing wrong with that.

Well, glad you joined and I hope your wife is enjoying the chickens too! And piglets.....they have to be so cute!

Take care,
Sharon

thank you..yes my wife also likes our babies..maybe not to my extent..but they are rubbin off on her and she is certainly coming around!..i have been thinking of buying a young rooster..what would you recommend?

Hello Lonny and welcome to BYC from SC! Sounds like you have a nice collection of animals started. Like most of us, I'm sure given time and space you will continue to collect until you run out of room or resources. I"m sure you will hear about chicken math, but around here, animals tend to just multiply regardless of species ;0)
