Hello all. I am new to chickens and although my husband was raised on farms, I’ve always been a city girl. Every year we borrow baby chicks for the Easter season from a lady in my office with a farm. This year we decided to try our hand at keeping them. Now we have three lovely ladies (Ancona, BA, RSL), a coop we designed and built ourselves, and all the information we could ever want/need just from lurking on BYC for the last six months.
This has been a learning lesson for us all and our kids have benefited the most. We are all in first egg countdown mode now. I’m so glad we came across this site (researching the baby chicks we had) and have gotten to experience so much more than baby Easter chicks.

Welcome to BYC! My wife and I lived in McAlester, OK for a while and have some good memories from our time there. You have some great laying breeds there. Okay, actually RSLs are hybrids and not breeds, but they are egg laying machines. The BAs are my favorite standard breed chicken. Good luck with your flock.
