Hi! I'm Dianna and I am just starting this whole chickens-in-the-backyard journey. I've wanted to get chickens for a while and finally took the plunge.

I have three daughters, two dogs (yes, they are a problem!), two bunnies, and 7 chicks. We have Blue Laced Red Wyandottes and are excited to watch them grow. I am planning our coop and hope to get it started soon.

I started an Instagram account for my little loves. It's thebestnest_okc. No posts yet, but I'm working on it!

Every time I run a search to answer a chicken-related question I find the answer here so I decided to join the community!

Hi Dianna and welcome to BYC - thanks for joining us and congrats on your new littles.

You'll find lots of info in the Learning Centre - https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/category/learning-center.11/ and if you have a specific topic in mind, just type it in the search box - there's a wealth of information on past and present threads.

Each week, various topics are discussed, which can also be a great resource - https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/topic-of-the-week-thread-archive

You may wish to consider joining your state thread as it will put you in touch with other BYC members in your area - http://www.backyardchickens.com/t/270925/find-your-states-thread#post_3239224

All the best

Well it's good to hear we're answerin so many of your questions! Welcome DiannaDi of OK from Leighe in TX. Blue Laced Red Wyandottes are gorgeous! Excited for you and your daughters. As far as a coop....make sure it is predator proof. You can read a lot about them on BYC. Raccoons have hands that can open locks and chain link fence. Hardware cloth is your friend and lockin your babies up in the coop at night will help them have a long life. Post pics when you can and I'll check out your instagram (great name by the way) :love
