In the Brooder
Hello!
I am a Canadian with a backyard flock of 4. We live in the city and 4 is our limit. We have wanted chickens for a while and bylaw finally allowed it in this city last summer. This spring we decided to jump in with all feet and go for it! We built a run and converted an old play house into a coop. We googled many breeds and then went and picked up 4 different chicks. We have an olive egger, maran, a chantecler and an orpington. We are unsure of the type of orpington we have. We thought buff but she has blue feet. Hopefully this site will help us figure all that out. Our flock is now 5-6 weeks old. They enjoy the days outside and the nights inside still as it is still cool at night. Hopefully they will be outside full tike within the next couple weeks. Our fingers are crossed for all hens as if we have any roosters they will have to be rehomed as bylaw does not allow roosters.
We chose to get chicks because we wanted them to be used tp us and the kids that play in our backyard.
Looking forward to tip and tricks and sharing our own experiences as we jump into this journey of chicken owners!
