Hi all,
We just "borrowed" 3, 1 year old chix (EEs???) and a homemade chicken tractor. We'll see how the neighbors react before committing fully... I don't know what breeds the chickens are... but 2 look like brown EEs of the ameracauna type and one is white with black random feathers... all 3 lay greenish/blue eggs.
They are so fun to watch... Sugar is the white one, she's shy and bottom of the group, loves tomatoes! Next is Kentucky she doesn't have much by way of a tail and likes to horn in on whatever Sugar is doing... Top Chicken is recovering from being the pick of the rooster in her previous flock; lots of missing back feathers! She also obliges with an egg every other day immediately following a late afternoon treat! Today was sunflower seeds... and she sings the lowest sweetest clucking song while she lays...
We need to do a little work on the tractor for the coming rainy season.... but I love being able to move them around the yard...
Long term I'd love to have a pen built so they can have more room to roam, but right now a wide picket fence and our dog prevent that... next spring/summer should be really fun with them tho'!

Love the site, I've learned so much already.... and so has my 8 1/2 year old!
Thanks,
Anne & Mirabella

! Happy you joined our community. Sure hope your neighbors don't object to you having a few birds around...then maybe you can expand the flock! Advice? Maybe give a few eggs to the neighbors - they might become very understanding!! Best of luck.
