Thanks for the warm welcome, everyone I've already learned so much here. Now I just have to be patient until we get our setup and chickens.

Well I've ordered some chickens from our local feed store. 2 araucana( this is EE, correct?) a silver laced Wyandotte, blue laces red Wyandotte, light brahma, a welsummer, and a cuckoo Marans. Should be 7 birds total and I beleive its all straight run. I think I'd like at least one rooster to watch the girls and I love the look of the roosters.

My name is Katie and I currently have 2 golden retrievers, one mixed breed dog and 1 cat. Hopefully we'll have about 6-8 chickens soon. I'm completely new to chickens so I decided to do lots of researching first. I'm planning to build my own coop, with the help of my husband. I still haven't decided which breed of chickens to buy. There's so many beautiful chickens and fun egg colors that I can't make up my mind!
