New to chickens. City allows up to 6 hens. Have 6 at the moment, but 85% sure one is a roo. Looking forward to fresh eggs. Right now love playing with them and collecting feathers! (great for craft projects).

only about 16 weeks. This is the one I am concerned about. Very bossy, tries to crow. How old are they? If 6+months then they are all hens.
been about week and half. Believe I have found a home for him, if I can hold onto him for a couple weeks. I will have to look up Salem's rules on time to re-home a rooster.Welcome to BYC! How long had this one been that red in the face/comb/wattles?
I love it too! It is Queen Nutsy aka Queenie, my Turken (obviously). She is my lap chicken, loves walking on me. Makes it worth cleaning up all their messes.we had a frizzle that ran around like a cowboy from day one and low and behold turned out to be a roo. not sure about where you are, but the 6 count applies only to adults, defined at 6 months or older. the thinking is to allow one to start with more than enough to make up for roosters and if you end up with too many hens, you have until 6 months to rehome, that way you are less likely to end up adding chicks later, which can be challenging, especially if you only need one.
btw, love that avatar shot!
