Hi there!! I am a proud owner of 10 Silkie hens and 3 Silkie Roos!! We got our first egg today and I have to say it's the cutest little egg I have ever seen!!

I do have a question to ask: I want to move the egg from where she laid it to the nesting box inside the coop, good idea or bad idea? I want her to go broody so I can have baby chicks to sell. Any ideas or suggestions?
Thanks a bunch....

Hi Welcome to BYC!! I don't know much about broodys....but my guess would be to put a fake egg in where you want her to go....maybe she'll go for that. A real egg might break and cause a whole nother problem......... She may just get the idea...good luck

I have 5 Silkies hens. I know that my eggs from them have very sturdy shells. If you want her hatch some babies out, I would just leave the egg in the nesting box and make sure she knows where it is at. Silkies go broody very easily so she will most likely be more than willing to hatch some eggs.
