Hey all new friends. Just joined.

I live in Salem, Oregon. Beautiful fall we are having here in the Willamette Valley. I have six chickens, about 26 weeks and no eggs yet. I am getting ready to try the golf ball and see if I can get them to think more about their duty.

Each morning I tell them to get busy, but to no avail. I have one hen that loves me and is very vocal and pecks my feet and loves to sit in my lap. The others, not so much.

I tried giving them a pumpkin this weekend and it was hysterical. Never thought they would love it, but they did. Caused quite a stir in the yard.

Well thanks for any friendly tips. I am sure I will need them along the way.

Hi and :welcome

Yeah, I bet they enjoyed the pumpkin.
Watermelon is also a hit, especially when it gets a bit warmer. Chickens like a lot of surprising things.

Good luck, I hope you start seeing some eggs soon!
I heard something about perhaps changing the protein level if they're a bit late laying, but then again it really depends on the breed - some are later starters than others.

I hope you find all the info you need here, and enjoy the site. :D
