Hi, I've been reading the BYC forums for a couple of years now and decided to join. My kids raise chickens for 4H. Until recently we've had all feed store chickens. Last fall we were given a bunch of BBS orpington eggs and we are starting to work on getting some nice BBS orps. I'm trying to teach the kids (and myself) a little about chicken genetics. We also have a buff orps pair and a variety of other hens.

Glad you decided to join us.

Good luck with your hatching.

Thanks for the welcomes.

Sunflour, I grew up in Covington, GA.

I took some pics of our orps (I did miss getting one of the buff hen). Feel free to criticize them, we appreciate being able to learn.

Our buff roo. His color is more striking than captured in this photo.

Our blue pullet, just over six months old.

Two pics of the blue pullet with our better black cockerel. He was hatched with her. It looks like he has some silver in these pics, but that is just the sun reflecting. His brother does have silver leakage in the hackles, which you can partially see in the bottom pic. The pictures don't do justice to his nice green sheen. His comb does have too many points.

Hello and Welcome to BYC! Glad you joined us! Feel free to ask any questions you may have! Those are some pretty birds you have there, I love blue orpingtons!

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided join our flock. You have some beautiful Orpingtons. Thanks for posting the pics. I love Orpingtons. I've raised them for years (along with dozens of other breeds), and they are hardy, friendly and gentle (my children and granddaughter made lap pets of them), and good layers of large, brown eggs. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your hatch.

Glad you could join our community! Blue Orpingtons are just lovely birds. If I ever raised another breed of chicken, I'd raise Blue Orpingtons. You have some beautiful chickens.

It is nice seeing true, deep-bodied, show-quality Orpingtons.
