Hi, I'm Suzy. My family and I live on the coast in Oregon. I have about 21 chickens and counting as I currently have some babies hatching as I type this. I'm very happy to be a member. I have come to backyard chickens often when I was first starting out. There is great advice and very nice people here. So, thanks and have a wonderful day.

So glad you could join our community! Sounds like you have a lovely flock. I lurked on her for nearly a year before joining, just soaking up all the helpful information, too. I'm so glad that I finally joined!

Good luck with the hatch! What breeds are you hatching?

My first girls were buff orpingtons, black australorps, and New Hampshire Reds. When a couple went broody last year we got a rooster, an americauna. This gave us only one black australorp americauna cross hen. Lays beautiful big blue and green eggs. The a few months back we inherited 6 roosters and 5 hens. A white silkie hen, a black Cochin and three Japanese bantams. The roosters range from a splash to a Cochin and some bantams. I have one that looks like an americauna rooster but he is tiny with stubby legs. So far the current chicks are australorp crosses and Orpington crosses. I had some bantam or silkie eggs but the bantam who was broody killed them while they were hatching. I have no idea who the rooster dad is of the new babies but we will know more as they grow

Wow! Sounds like you have nice big flock of lovely birds! Those are some great breeds! Is the chick in your avatar from one of the hatches? It sure is a cutie!

We are glad to have you!

The chick is the first to hatch from the current round.
