My husband (Craig) and I (Michelle) are fairly new to chickens. We have had our flock for 1 year. We got them from our local farm store, however they purchase from McMurray and then sell local. We have 8 hens, 1 dark brahama, 2 silver wyandottes, 2 buff orpingtons, 2 Isa Brown and 1 Americauna. They have a beautfiul coop and run that my husband built. They do not free range as we have some major predators in the area, but we keep them healthy feeding them cut grass, purina layer feed and high protein treats every once and a while. I adore our flock. I love that I can see all the different personalities from bird to bird. I have my hens who think they are the boss of me, and then some that follow me where ever I go just hoping to get pet or some treats. They are all pretty good egg layers, so of course we enjoy that as well! In addition to our chicken raising, we have 3 dogs (A boston terrier, pug and bulldog mix), we love to garden and fish. I am excited to join this community as I have already found great advice just searching on google and reading forums.
