Greetings from Heavenly Acres... I'm pleased to be joining you! We have a small but "heavenly" location near the VT border. I love being a chicken farmer! We originally got chickens for "tick control" over ten years ago... We tried several breeds but I had always dreamed of raising Red Dorkings, like they had at Old Sturbridge Village in the 80's and 90's. Four years ago my husband established some contacts for me, and we began our journey... I'm thrilled to report that not only do we have some handsome rooster which are also gentlemanly, but this summer we had five broody hens hatch chicks! What a gift from God! We now have over 25 Red Dorkings and I'd love to help someone else get started with this beautiful, gentle breed... I'd love to hear from you!

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. X2 oon drumstick diva; Dorkings in any color variety are rather uncommon and I would love to see some pics of your Red Dorkings.) If you haven't done so already, definitely check out our Learning Center at https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center. There is loads of useful information there. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. God bless your flock.
