Thanks for all the warm clunky welcomes. I think many of you would have enjoyed tonight's dinner conversation.
I had been working on the coop plans all day, and reaserching chickens - just read the hot topics email on trouble shooting egg problems, great read! And dad had a great day selling about 50 pounds of tomatoes, so we were celebrating with a nice dinner, and of course talking chickens - because I'm like a dog with a bone and running away with it.
We were talking about the litter pan that will slide in and out for easy cleaning, and dad wanted to drill holes in it for the pee to run out and just collect the poop. I had to explain to him that chickens don't pee like our other animals - and he didn't believe me - so I go to Google. Then he didn't believe me that chickens had one opening that expelled waste and eggs - so that got googled. One thing lead to another and there were some misunderstandings about female human anatomy no daughter should have to explain to her married father. Needless to say, I think I just sexually assaulted Google's search box.
Dad is learning very quickly that we're not just throwing chickens out side and getting eggs. Specially after I showed him that egg problem post - which again I say was a great read!
In short, it's nice to know more about your parents some times lol. Tomorrow my mom and I are going to the south Florida fair to look at the chickens and see if there is anyone there to talk to/get more info.
