Hey there everyone!
I just happened to move into a place with some chickens a year ago and so I'm learning a lot about them. I've been fixing up the coop since I started learning that our setup isn't optimal (to say the least, thank goodness for natural resiliency!). i just finished reading city chicks, which was reallllllly helpful!
We have 4 (1 very golden rhode island red, 2 auracanas mottleyblack and 1 ameraucana who is black..i think.) and are looking to expand to 6, so I've got my eye out for 2 locally available hens. I'm also looking for sources of bedding material like hay/straw and what have you. Let me know if you have any leads!

i'm an artist and an upcycler, and I have an etsy account that I make things for, as well as working for another person with an etsy account. It's a small world. After I've learned my fill for now about chickens, i'm turning my head towards learning more about permaculture (i've always practiced aspects of it and i want to know more)

Thanks! I look forward to hanging out on BYC with y'all

hello and :welcome

You should check out your state's thread in Where am I, where are you. There'll be lots of folks there wqho live in your area. Good luck!!
You could also use wood chips for bedding, and we used grass clippings from the garden so we didn't need to buy anything.

Don't hesitate to ask any questions you might have, and enjoy the site. :D
