So I've lurked here forever, this place is such a great resource....but it only dawned on me to actually register last month. So here I am, ready to be social. :) Going to go ahead and fill out the introduction template, here goes!

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?

We got our very first batch of chicks Spring of 2003, our first year living out on a little 10 acre homestead. We lived there for 8 years, then moved back to our beloved Portland (and brought the girls with us, of course!).

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?

At the moment we have 12...6 old gals and 6 chicks we just got in March. I suspect we have at least one rooster in the bunch though, so that number will likely go down.

(3) What breeds do you have?

Our ladies are basically pets, so we like them all to look different so they can be named and easily recognized. We've got the following: 2 Ameraucanas (Jezebel and Gypsy), white Old English Game Bantam (Charlotte), White Crest Black Polish (Martha), 2 Wellsummers (the Deadwood Twins, Calamity Jane and Trixie), White Cochin (Miss Fluffer McDuffer), Partridge Cochin (Francine), Partridge Wyandotte (Peggy), Mottled Houdan (Adelaide), Barred Holland (Henriette), and a Silver Spangled Hamburg (likely a rooster).

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?

Goodness, ages ago! I don't even remember.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?

I am generally crafty. Organic gardening, canning and preserving, cooking, crochet, spinning, brewing, cross stitching, and whatever else tickles my fancy.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

Our family is my husband, myself and our little boy, who is 4 3/4 as of right now (the 3/4 is VERY important). In addition to the humans, we share our household with oodles of critters. One dog, three cats, a fishtank, and the already discussed flock of hens.
