Birds aren't a new thing for me, but after many, many years of fantasizing about chickens, my sister decided to keep chickens. She lives in Battle Ground, but I visit at least two times a week. I brooded most of the chicks because there is nothing cuter than baby birds! We have a mixed flock of buff orpingtongs, RIRs, turkens, light brahmas, easter egger (with favored cuddly status who sometimes has lap time slumber parties with me!), and a speckled sussex. Ten in total and most are eight weeks or so old by now.

I live with three parrots (one is diaper/leash trained!!!) and a cairn terrier. Our flock lives with a chihuahua, pomeranian, 3 year old and 4 year old. Chickens have proved to be more fun than expected and we are very much enjoying watching them grow!!! I enjoy birding, reading biological pop sci books, and lots of other stuff. I would *love* to find two serama hens to share my love.

I've enjoyed lurking on this site for several weeks and thought I would join. Yay chickens!

Were neighbors Im in Portland too. I also keep parrots, Im a Grey lover, & my flock also lives with 2 chihuahua's, we have lots in common. So glad your joining us here on BYC.

HI! Fellow Oregonian here. We are down south. My grandmother lives in Battle Ground. It's pretty up there. I was so surprised to find out you could keep chickens in town, let alone in places like Portland. Good luck with those babies and good luck in finding your hens!

One of our parrots is a grey. He lived at a petsmart for three years, then with a different family for three years and with us now for a year and a half. He HATES me, but loves bald men. They are neat birds! (I'm a pionus fan : ) )

No serama hens yet, understandably, people want to sell them as pairs with a rooster. I think it would be hilarious to have the parrots make the sad squeaky serama call that some make... but probably not a good idea.

Six new babies have been added to our flock. They are snuggled up under a wash cloth on my chest. They are SO tiny!!! Three had egg teeth when I brought them home.
