Hello fellow chicken lovers!
I am new to join the site but not new to chickens. My fiancee and I have been amateur enthusiasts for about 3 years and I have been stealing advice from these threads along the way. We started out with 2 hens in a little beachside town here in FL. They were tough and patient with us. Both of them made it through 2 hurricanes and multiple racoon breakin attempts. We were a bit clueless at first but have learned a lot. We finally moved to our dream property about 6 months ago. Now that we have 10 acres to play in we have grown our flock to about 12 hens and one roo. I love my chickens and recently hatched my first group of chicks. I think the biggest thing I've learned through everything is that mother nature has her own plans and you can't anticipate everything. Raising chickens is a wonderful and wild ride. There has been blood, sweat, tears, and plenty of smiles along the way.
With all this rain we have been having my girls are a little soggy but hanging in there. Today is our first sunny day in a week and there's more rain for us this weekend. Wish us luck!
