Hey all! My husband and I just got 6 little chicks from Tractor Supply (2 weeks ago) and are growing them in the garage until they're big enough for our coop! Thinking about adding some more in a few more weeks also!

We are new to the world of chickens and are looking for any insight and pointers you all have.

As a plus, if there is anyone else here from Rockmart/Polk County GA who can share any local chicken ordinances it would be GREATLY appreciated.

! Great to have you in our community! Here are some links you should find helpful:
The Learning Center is a treasure trove of articles spanning the entire range of chicken keeping:

Here's a link where you can access the GA state thread and chat with some local chicken peeps: https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/26/where-am-i-where-are-you
Since you might be adding chicks, integrating chickens, particularly those of differing ages, can be tricky. Here's a link to assist: https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/introducing-new-chickens-using-the-see-but-don-t-touch-method
And if the powers that be don't allow chickens in your town, you can get advice in this forum:

I wish you well on your poultry adventure and BYC is here with advice and encouragement should you need them. Good luck!!

Welcome!

As you have already received links to some great starting points, I will just wish you and your little ones all the best.

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

If you would like to share pictures and stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out
