Hello, My name is Bea and I'm about to move to 50 acres in S.C. There's not much there yet, but plan to be knee deep in chickens and gardens by this time next year. I've raised chickens before (Rhode Island Reds) and absolutely love everything associated with raising them. Can't wait to have some again, and this time I'm excited about having a rooster, too. Before, I've always lived too close to neighbors to have one. Well, I had one but he got me in trouble and I had to relocate him....
I retired last year and my husband retires this June. We've always wanted a farm and now, by golly we have one. Hopefully we aren't too tired and worn out to enjoy ourselves. I'm looking forward to hearing your good advice about chickens and also Guineas. My friends have Guineas and I've fallen in love with them but don't know much about raising them.
I'm pretty easy to get along with and this looks like a nice place with nice folks and I'm looking forward to being here. All my friends and neighbors call me 'Aunt Bea' and yes, I look exactly like the Aunt Bea you're probably thinking of, the one on the Andy Griffith show. I didn't start out looking that way, but it just sort of happened when I got older and I don't mind a bit. My three hobbies are gardening and cooking and my grandchildren. I have 9 and they all love to come to my house and can't wait to have baby chickens and goats and a horse and a pond to fish in. I'm looking forward to it, too.
Well, that's all for now.
