Hello from Salem, Oregon

I'm a chicken newbie. A while back, my husband and I ordered 6 chicks from a popular online website (which I will not name), and all six did not survive the journey. I was devastated to say the least...I went out that day and bought 4 straight-run bantam cochin chicks from Wilco, and three straight-run chicks (1 blue laced red wyandotte and 2 lavender ameraucanas) from a local hatchery. Then I bought two more the next day (I know...), a RIR and a black australorp that were female so I would know for sure I had two females, and crossed my fingers I would have 3 or 4 females out of the straight runs. Now I have chickens coming out my ears as you can see from my profile pic.

I need some help figuring out the gender of my chicks, I will post pics and questions in another thread. I'm already pretty sure 3 of them are male. They are 5 to 6 weeks old (the bantam cochins are about a week older than the others). I have lots of questions and I know you guys have lots of answers! I'm looking forward to being part of the Backyard Chicken community :)
