Hi! I am new to BYC and even newer to raising our own chickens!
We are a family of 6 - me & my husband and our 4 boys! Ages 11, 9, 5 & 5 (twins!)
I have been wanting to raise our own chickens for eggs, enjoyment and (possibly) meat, for a long time! This dream was finally pushed into a reality when the twins' preschool decided to get some eggs from a local farm, and let the kids experience the process for themselves. 20 egss, 5 hatched, 4 made it and we got these 2 beauties! 2 purebred Ameraucana (straight-run).
They are about 2.5 weeks old now.
A few days after getting those two we picked up these two:
Top is an Ancona, bottom is a Silver Laced Wyandotte. 3 days old.
We are currently working on building these lovely ladies (hopefully) a great home!

and Welcome To BYC! Congratulations on your new chicks! What adorable babies, and wonderful pictures you took of them. (I'm sure the pictures just got switched when you posted them, but Ancona are usually black/white chicks like the one whose picture is on bottom, & the SLW like the top picture). Good Luck with the coop build. X2 on be sure to check out the BYC Learning Center, and it is always fun to check out your state thread for chicken keeping neighbors
