Hello from Santa Cruz county

You need at least one square foot of ventilation per chicken. When they breath, they create a lot of humidity.
You'll need 3 square foot of floor space per each chicken also, not including nest space. They need about a foot each on the roosts.
For the run, the rule of thumb is 10sq ft per chicken, but bigger is betterm
Thank you! That gives me ideas. I can replace the front doors with fenced versions. And, we can build a second coop as an add on.

We haven't added the nesting boxes to the outside of the coop, that is on our todo list.

We only meant to have 6 chickens, but somehow we ended up with 14😂.


Luckily right now 6 of them are still small. During the day the roam the backyard bushes eating ticks and bugs.

You have a beautiful yard and the chickens look happy!
I understand the math. I only wanted 6. I stopped counting at around 2 or 3 dozen.
