Hello From SE Florida!

The breach that cost us the novogens was in the deer netting that spanned a large powderpuff bush. It grew and opened the netting up way on top where I didn’t see it.

This time we have one firebush inside the netting and I”m keeping it well trimmed back. I actually plan on removing it soon as it’s not adding any value where it is. In the outside open area I have 2 palms and a newly planted firebush that can grow as big as they can. The fire bugs gets berries for a few moths that the chickens love.

We did add an electric fence this time. A neighbor had one that came with the place they bought and they aren’t using it so they lent it to me. Love it! This one is old and worn and needs repairs semi-regularly but it’s so worth it.

Thanks everyone for the welcome! I’m having lots of issues with my hens and it’s such a relief to have someplace to go to get info and ask questions. Frankly I’m quite discouraged but keep telling myself that it’s part of the trials of keeping animals and I’m learning albeit by fire and it’ll get better and soon (oh please make it soon!) I can relax a bit and enjoy hanging with the girls again.
