I have been a member for awhile and just realized i should introduce myself!
I have been raising chickens for 3 years. I thought I was going into the egg business, but as I began my chicken journey, it became more about the chickens! I enjoy sharing my excitement about raising backyard chickens with new chicken people and learning from experienced breeders. We raise all of our flocks, lovingly and naturally. We use Silkies as our incubators and mothers. I have found chicks raised by Silkies, are more calm and friendly (no matter what the breed) than those raised by our standard hens. Raising chickens is fun, exciting and a never ending journey!

Nice to meet you. :frow
Interesting observation on the silkie broody. I'm hoping one of my girls goes broody this spring so she can raise a batch of day olds. I have no silkies. I guess I always looked at them as chickens trying to look like a fluffy dog. Cute but didn't really do it for me.
