(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
No, not new. I have had chickens off and on since I was young. I recently got a batch of chicks after a 4 year hiatus.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
I have The Tribe, mainly bantams and one Americauna, and I have The Clan, 6 silkies who I intend to have as pets. The Tribe consists of 6 hens and ... I have to decide which 2 roosters I will keep as I ended up with 10 roosters out of this straight run. There are 6 silkies and who knows what gender they are. Everyone is only 4 weeks old.

(3) What breeds do you have?
Mystery bantams, 1 americauna ad 6 silkies (black, blue, buff, white and 2 partridge).

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
Googling questions, BYC was the most informative group.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I have 2 mustang horses, 2 goats, cats, dogs.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I have a spoiled little cat named, Little Cat; she has an official name but responds to Little Cat, Little Monster, Little Mutant (her tail curls over her back) instead of Lady Grey.
I work at home. My kid is all grown up so it's just my husband and I at home now.

Welcome to BYC! Please make yourself at home and we are here to help.

Sounds like you have a lovely flock and a great variety of other animals. I love goats, dogs, horses and cats! Good luck with them all. Feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are happy to help. Glad you joined our community.

Thank you!

Going to post my silkies to the What Breed or Gender line in a few. I know the breed, obviously haha, and I know it's hard with silkies what gender, but I'd like to see if a couple of my guesses are what I think they may be.

Good luck figuring out their genders! They are a hard breed to sex but hopefully you'll get some helpful answers in the breed and gender are.

Silkies are extremely difficult to sex before 4-5 mos. of age and sometimes not till they crow or lay eggs. I wouldn't put any stock in a sex determination at the very young age of 4 weeks. You may want to post on the "Silkie thread."
