I think you answered your own question. You'll probably be limited to the chickens you'll find locally. If farms have them they are probably the ones that do well there.
Apparently it is very difficult to move chickens across borders. It might be different in Singapore, but with the avian flu in Asia a few years ago I would expect there might be some very stringent laws about transporting chickens.
