I have a question for anyone out there that has raised baby chicks from the start. How long before switching from the newspaper to actual pine bedding and I thought I bought shavings but when I opened it, it looked like pine crumbles (very fine) and I'm worried its too fine and they might eat it. So, I want to know what you all recommend

I used paper shreddings for about 3 weeks, then I changed to hay. I found that hay works good too.

Hi and welcome to BYC from northern Michigan

I usually switch after 3-4 days, but you might want to find some larger shavings to start with. I am currently using pelleted pine horse bedding, and it has worked great so far, less dust and smell.
