Hello BYC members. Glad to be in the flock.
Although I did raise chickens before it has been close to 18 years since they lived with us. So I feel like a newbie with the chicken that we have now. She is a "rescue" chicken, my granddaughter literally rescued her from the neighbor's dog's mouth. Out of 14 chicks, she is one of 3 that survived.
So, we have 1 hen. She is about 2 months old now. I have no idea of her breed.
I found BYC while looking for info about a condition she has developed.
I'm not sure that we will take up keeping chickens as a hobby. My main hobby is being an advocate for wild horses & burros & numerous other animals. I also enjoy reading, caring for my other critters, & drawing.
I am a 50 year old grandmother of 2. Been a stay at home mom & grandma always. I have 6 dogs, 1 inside cat, a turtle, a hen, & numerous feral cats. All are rescues except the feral cats. The turtle is my latest rescue, it will be with us until old enough for release. Family is everything to me, both the human & the furr family.
