Well I suppose if you're going to give them a large run and/or let them free range you won't have to have a huge hen house, but I agree with 1mutts, you might want to think about expanding for 7 hens.

Hi and from Ohio. So glad to have you aboard. The chickens will need a place to roost. Crowding causes many problems from feather picking, fighting and even cannibalism. That's why you need to give as much space as you can to keep them happy. Good luck and enjoy.

thanks everyone, do alot of people that have chicken as have gardens. I love chickens but I love my vegetable garden so much. expanding it to 40 by 40 this week.
