Hello from California! I will be visiting South Africa for the first time in a few weeks. I'm very excited to tour your beautiful country!

Hi
Here are some photos. My BO Rooster is on the back stoep (verandah) with some of my hens on a cold winter day !
The Boschvelder is a cross between the South African indigenous Venda, Matabele & Ovambo chickens. They are quite relaxed and easy going, nice nature. I have known of people who got some that were not so nice ! They can be escape artists, but mine are free range & I leave them to come in to roost at dusk, it is easier than trying to get them in ! The have many colour combos, with patterns, very pretty. They lay nice creamy eggs. They are very hardy, but are not tops for laying...can tend to brood. I say that if the hens are free range or if it is just for your own use then they are great, if you have limited space & are selling eggs, probably not the best !

Wow, your birds are beautiful! Probably some of the nicest birds I think I've ever seen. Thanks for that intro. :D

(And some nice flowers too, in that first picture :p)
