Hey everyone! After a year of sitting back and watching, I finally joined BYC!!! My husband and I are grain farmers and last spring he finally let me get my first batch of layers. A couple months later I got my second batch of layers! This spring we got five more hens for a total of 16 hens (5 eggers, 2 barred rocks, 3 RIRs, 1 australorp, 1 silver laced Wyandotte, 3 comets and 1 partridge rock) and 1 egger roo. He was supposed to be a she! Oh well, he is such a good natured guy but very noisy! We've had a few losses along the way but I'm happy with what we've got.
Also this spring we got 40 Cornish X's that were processed about two weeks ago and I couldn't be happier with the way they turned out! I can't wait to get another batch!

Welcome to BYC! Glad your flock is working out so well for you. Your Comets will be egg laying machines and if your Black Australorp is like the ones I've had, it will be very friendly and gentle (and an excellent layer as well). Good luck as you continue with your new adventure.

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! Sounds like you have a nice little flock! Glad the CornishX worked out so well, home grown chicken is the best!

Looks like you are a true BYC'er alright ....

If you wait your egger roo will help you out in expanding your flock
many times over even with losses .....

Enjoy your poultry ventures
