Hi I'm a new BYC member from north broward area.
I have two bantam hens someone gave me recently.
I call them 'the girls', Salt and Peppa.
I'm learning a lot from reading BYC, that's for sure!
Also, what do you guys think of the idea of calling them
'South American Ground Parrots' in case any of the local
constabulary inquires as to what kind of birds these are
I am keeping? Zoning N Stuff.
I'm gonna post pics soon of my birds!
They're good egg layers, providing about 4 a week each.
They make the little Bantam eggs.
I'm feeding them Purina Eggomatic stuff.
I'm supplementing with cracked corn grit
and some veggies for now. They have access
to soil with sand and rocks and pebbles to eat
as well as some grass and a parsley plant.
I also had given them a begonia plant which
they ate. Now I'm thinking that's not a good idea.
Begonias may be toxic?
Well I'm just real happy to have these birds, they're
great little companions, and I'm just real happy to be
here.
Btw, I noticed my birds really love U2. They just sit there
listening to the radio, enraptured.
They have good taste in music, eh?
God Bless!
