Hello! What a great forum. I have been lurking for a while and soaking up all the interesting conversations and knowledge. I don't have chickens yet, however one of the reasons we moved out to the country was so we could get some eventually. We've lived here for about four years now, and I finally feel like I can start researching and planning, and would love to get a small flock by next spring. I have many questions, particularly about coops and different breeds, and I've been finding tons of answers and helpful advice on the forum.

What breeds do you have?

None yet, but I am interested in so many. I think chickens are going to be addictive! Right now I am intrigued by Brahmas, Wyandottes, barred rocks, orpingtons, Ameracaunas, and Easter Eggers to mention a few. It'll be hard to narrow it down.

Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

I live on about 5 acres in Southeast Tennessee with my husband, two kids (a two-year-old and an almost 4-year-old), two German Shepherds, and a fat gray tabby cat. I work part-time nights as an RN in one of the area psychiatric hospitals. I'm looking forward to adding some outdoor pets to our menagerie. I like to read, write, garden, hike, cook, train dogs, spend time with my family, and hopefully keep chickens one day. Ymmmm, fresh eggs!!!

Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D

I'm a complete newbie to chickens and have been asking google a lot of questions about coops and chicken breeds. Google sends me to the forum a lot! I lurked around and finally decided to join because everyone seems quite friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful, and my family doesn't want to talk about chickens as much as I do (haha).

Thanks for reading!!!
